Although the financial terms have not been made public, the agreement has been described as one of the most valuable jersey patch-focused deals in college sports.
Beyond branding, the partnership includes financial education, digital asset literacy, and career development programs for University of Kansas students.
XRP Logo to Appear Across Kansas Athletics
As part of the agreement, the XRP logo will be featured on the uniforms of every Kansas Jayhawks varsity team, making it the first cryptocurrency to receive a jersey patch sponsorship across a major college athletics program.
That exposure will span multiple sports throughout the academic calendar, giving Ripple visibility across one of the most recognisable brands in collegiate athletics.
The sponsorship extends well beyond uniforms. Ripple will also receive branding throughout Kansas Athletics facilities, digital platforms, and game-day signage, ensuring the partnership reaches fans both inside stadiums and online.
Kansas Athletics Director Travis Goff said the university wanted more than a traditional sponsorship.
Rather than simply adding another logo to its uniforms, Kansas sought a partnership that would create meaningful opportunities for students while introducing a new commercial category into college athletics.
The agreement was completed in collaboration with Learfield, the company that manages Kansas Athletics’ multimedia rights and corporate partnerships.
Notably, Learfield has played a major role in the growing jersey patch market, helping complete 13 of the 25 announced jersey patch agreements across college sports.
Kansas also becomes the second member of the Big 12 Conference to secure a jersey patch sponsor after Oklahoma State, reflecting how schools are increasingly using uniform sponsorships to generate new revenue streams.
The Partnership Goes Beyond Sports Marketing
One of the defining features of the agreement is its focus on education and workforce development.
Ripple will support financial literacy initiatives and digital asset education programs designed for students and student-athletes.
As blockchain technology and digital payments continue to attract attention from businesses and financial institutions, the programs aim to introduce students to the fundamentals of the sector through educational initiatives supported by Ripple.
The partnership also includes internship opportunities, career development programs, and job placement efforts intended to connect University of Kansas graduates with careers in technology.
The relationship between Ripple and the university also has longstanding ties.
Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse graduated from the University of Kansas, served as student body president during his time on campus, and is a native of Topeka, Kansas. His connection to the university helped begin conversations that later developed into the multi-year agreement involving Ripple, Kansas Athletics, and Learfield.
